First things, first, let’s make sure you have all of the following:
A Mac or PC with:
- A dual-core i5 processor (or equivalent) and at least 8GB of RAM
- A webcam
- A microphone
Either Chrome 74+, Firefox 60+, or Safari 12+
When prompted, be sure to give ohyay permission to use your camera and microphone. If your camera or mic is not working, try these options to troubleshoot:
- Click on the gear icon to open up your ohyay settings. Make sure that the correct webcam, mic, and speakers are selected.
Check that your browser has the right permissions. Here are some links for help:
Quit Zoom and all other video chat applications. (Command-Tab on Mac will open up the App Switcher to see what apps are running).
Try closing your browser application and/or restarting your computer.
Click on the help icon for live assistance from a member of team ohyay.

When you’re in ohyay, the video and audio controls can be found at the top right corner of your screen.
Use these to mute your microphone or turn off your video as needed.
ohyay allows you to choose your name, subtitle, avatar, and the skin tone of any emojis you may use.
To edit any of these, click on the Settings wheel and make any changes in the pop-up window that appears.
On ohyay, you can share your display, an application window, or a Chrome tab. Click on the monitor icon to start.
Typically, you’ll want to share either an Application Window or Chrome Tab:
If you can’t see previews of your windows or tabs on macOS Catalina or later, you may need to configure your OS to allow screen sharing in your browser. Take a look at these links for how to do that:
(Please note that ohyay does not currently allow audio sharing in an application window).
To stop screen sharing, simply click on the screen share icon again. The icon should turn from red (sharing) to white (not sharing)
Don’t have access to your event space yet? Navigate to https://ohyay.co/tryit.html. This will create a temporary space for you, where you can check to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Looking for some basic copy to send your clients or event guests? We recommend the following:
- This event will be hosted on ohyay, a new place for virtual experiences. ohyay works best on a laptop or desktop computer (not mobile devices, like a cell phone or tablet), and runs the fastest on Google Chrome. We also recommend using headphones for a better auditory experience.
