A/V TROUBLESHOOTING

Check this out if you are having trouble with your camera, mic, video, or audio.

ohyay works best on Google Chrome. Please try using Google Chrome if you're experiencing issues in a different browser.

I can't see anyone

First, make sure you are in a room that is supposed to be displaying other users. In ohyay, some rooms do not display other people's video.

If you're sure there is supposed to be video displayed and you do not see it, try the following:

  • If there is a warning about "audio/video is being blocked by your browser", click on the Play link
  • Refresh the browser tab
  • Make sure your firewall is not blocking requests to ohyay.co or any of its subdomains (eg. dev-nyc-1.ohyay.co)

General troubleshooting steps:

  • Firefox users: Ensure that H264 support is enabled.
  • Chrome users: Try running in Incognito mode. Sometimes extensions will interfere with video chat.
  • Some ad-blockers restrict WebRTC traffic. Try adjusting their settings or disabling them entirely. uBlock Origin, for example, has an option to hide your local IP, which makes WebRTC traffic impossible in certain network situations.
